General
When do kitesurfing lessons start again?
We aim to start kitesurfing lessons from early April, weather permitting. Kitesurfing lessons will not take place if the temperature is below 8 degrees Celsius. Unfortunately, it's still too cold then.
When are you considered an independent kitesurfer?
You are considered an independent kitesurfer if you know how to choose the right equipment for any weather condition. You must be able to follow the regulations and perform a self-rescue. You also need to be able to manage in winds above 5 Beaufort and kitesurf in deep water. If you can do all that, you're well on your way!
Can you arrange accommodation?
If you take kitesurfing lessons with us for a weekend or longer, we can help you arrange accommodation at 'Zeilschool de Morra' in Hemelum or 'De Weyde Blick' in Warns. Overnight stays start from €35 per night, including breakfast.
Do you offer discounts?
If you are a student and can show your student ID, you'll receive a 10% discount on all kitesurfing courses.
Do you also offer packages?
Absolutely, you can book a 2-day, weekend, midweek, or even a week-long kitesurfing package with us. Contact us for more information.

When is a lesson cancelled?
If the wind is too light or too strong, kitesurfing lessons will be cancelled. We will then immediately check when the lesson can proceed and reschedule.
It can also happen that a kitesurfing lesson is cut short during the course. This can be due to bad weather (thunderstorms, very strong gusts of wind, or no wind). For the remaining course time, you will receive a voucher, and a new date will be reserved. This can be arranged immediately or at a later time.
- No wind: 9 knots (2 Beaufort or less)
- Maximum wind: 25 knots (7 Beaufort or more)
* For advanced kitesurfing lessons, a maximum of 30 knots (7 Beaufort) applies.
Do I need to bring my own lunch?
Yes, it's recommended depending on the kitesurfing location. At the Workum kitespot, there's a snack bar and a supermarket. At Mirns, you can order food at the restaurant or snack bar.
What do we do in case of bad weather conditions?
We are moving your kitesurfing lesson to your reserved date. If, unexpectedly, a different date is needed, we will arrange it with you.
Where is my kitesurfing lesson?
Depending on the wind direction, our schedule, and anticipated crowds, we will choose the most suitable location in consultation with you.

How strong do you need to be to kitesurf?
No, you don't need to be strong to kitesurf. The kite's power is transferred to your harness, so your body weight helps you control it.
Can I take the lesson over multiple days?
Of course, you can also take the kitesurfing course over multiple days; this depends on the chosen course. For example, if you want to split the complete course over three days, that's perfectly fine. We kindly ask you to mention this during registration.
What time do kitesurfing lessons usually start?

Can I kitesurf after just one day?
It's possible, but the chances are very slim. On average, it takes 10 to 15 hours before you can kite downwind and back. Of course, you might be the one who can do it within 5 hours. ;)
Am I athletic enough to kitesurf?
Anyone can learn to kiteboard. Since some people learn faster than others, you'll receive lessons tailored to your own level.
Can I buy equipment from you?
Absolutely, we have great deals on kitesurf equipment. Let us know if you're interested, and we'll arrange the equipment for you.
Is kitesurfing difficult to learn?
No, kitesurfing is not very difficult to learn. It depends on your personal aptitude for learning new skills. Kite control can typically be mastered within three hours. The most time is spent on combining it with the kiteboard. If you already participate in sports that have common ground with kitesurfing, it will naturally be easier. For example, think of skateboarding, wakeboarding, skimboarding, windsurfing, or powerkiting.
Will I immediately be flying meters through the air?
No, we start with a relatively small kite, which allows you to learn kitesurfing safely and responsibly. So you definitely won't be flying meters through the air.
Is kitesurfing difficult to do?
No, kitesurfing is not difficult to do. It's not hard on your arms either. You use your body weight, which allows you to easily control the kite without needing much strength.
Will I always be able to complete the kitesurfing lesson?
If you were unable to complete your lesson, you have one year to redeem your kitesurfing lesson. Kitesurfing lessons can be made up in Workum and Terschelling.
Always contact us 1 day before the course between 19:00 and 21:00 by phone.

What is the group composition like?
Our groups can range from young to old, and are often evenly split between men and women. Typically, the group consists of ages between 20 and 45, with exceptions, of course. We teach beginners and offer tips to advanced kitesurfers, so you can expect all skill levels with us. We also often offer optional group activities you can join. For some trips, you might share a large room with another guest, but this will be indicated.
