Ameland

The Wadden Sea region and the North Sea hold untold secrets!

Kitesurfing is permitted at four locations on Ameland. Three on the North Sea coast and one on the Wadden Sea. Pay close attention to currents, wind direction, and the designated zones.

1. Hollum (poles 3–4)

Wide beach spot with space for kite buggies. Not suitable for beginners due to strong currents and waves.

2. Nes – Westerpad (poles 8.200–11.000)

Rugged spot with currents and a shipwreck at sea. For advanced kitesurfers only. Kitesurfing lessons available with Antix.

3. Buren (poles 17.400–19.000)

Quieter spot behind campsite Klein Vaarwater. Same conditions as Westerpad, but less crowded. Kitesurfing lessons available.

4. Wadden Sea – Nes (near Ferry Terminal)

Suitable for beginners. Less current, but choppy waves. Kitesurfing only around high tide. Water shoes recommended. Lessons available with Antix.

Restrictions
  • North Sea: Kitesurfing outside designated zones is permitted from November 1st to March 1st.
