Makkum is suitable for winds from north to south, via west. Thanks to its shallow water, it's a great spot for beginners. There's plenty of space to set up your kite and launch within the yellow buoys. Be mindful of other recreational users on busy days. Strict controls are in place, and violations will result in an immediate fine.

The spot is located on the IJsselmeer, about a 200-meter walk from the parking lot along the canal. The kite zone begins behind the blue sign. The location is in the corner of the beach, ideal for a calm launch. Note: it is very shallow in some places.

Kitesurfing is permitted from October 1st to May 1st. Outside this period, you can go to the spot at Kornwerderzand.
