From Lauwersoog, you can easily reach Schiermonnikoog by ferry. A quiet, car-free island with a relaxed atmosphere. Kitesurfing is only permitted here on the North Sea coast, at two locations. Kiting on the Wadden Sea is not allowed. Due to the lack of southern spots, Schier is less versatile than Ameland or Terschelling, but the wide beach and beautiful lagoon more than make up for it.

1. Pole 3 (end of Badweg)

Large, flat lagoon and wide beaches. Perfect with a northwest wind. Suitable for both beginners and advanced riders.

2. Beach near De Marlijn

Better waves for wave riding. Here, with an easterly wind, you can do a great downwinder towards Pole 3.

Restrictions

• Kitesurfing is permitted on the North Sea, year-round.
• Wadden Sea: kiting is not permitted.
• Always respect nature regulations and other beachgoers.
