Stavoren is suitable for kiting with winds from northwest to southeast and is especially recommended for experienced kitesurfers. Due to the deep, turbulent water and the presence of groynes and rocks, beginners often opt for Mirns or Workum instead. Nevertheless, Stavoren is a beautiful spot with ample space and a restaurant. It's ideal for a session with strong southwest winds and significant waves on the sandbanks.

Approximately 30 meters from the beach, the water quickly becomes deep. Conditions can be rough, making it a challenging spot for advanced riders. Always read the blue information board on the beach before entering the water; it contains the rules and instructions.

Stavoren is open for kitesurfing all year round. Please be aware of the conditions and your own skill level.

Do not kite here with offshore winds (east), as the wind can be unstable and you could easily drift onto the IJsselmeer. Always make a well-considered decision before entering the water.
